Russia’s LNG production may reach 44 mln metric tons in 2026

An updated forecast for Russia’s socioeconomic development previously said that Russian LNG exports were expected to reach 35 mln metric tons in 2026

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Russia’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production is still expected to reach 44 mln metric tons in 2026, according to the Russian state program Energy Development, included in materials accompanying the draft federal budget for 2027-2029. The document has been posted in the electronic database of the lower house of parliament.

The document does not provide an LNG production forecast for 2027-2029. It was previously projected that Russia’s LNG production would reach 56 mln metric tons in 2027.

The document also does not disclose the share of Asia-Pacific countries in Russia’s total energy exports for 2026-2029. The share was previously projected to reach 69% in 2027, compared with 67.4% in 2025.

An updated forecast for Russia’s socioeconomic development previously said that Russian LNG exports were expected to reach 35 mln metric tons in 2026, with the forecast revised downward, compared with 30.3 mln metric tons in 2025. Exports are projected at 39.5 mln metric tons in 2027, 50.1 mln metric tons in 2028, and 64.5 mln metric tons in 2029.
