Russian government postpones diamond export duty to March 1, 2027

The Russian government planned to introduce an 8% duty on diamonds exported outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union

MOSCOW, August 11. /TASS/. The Russian government has postponed the introduction of an export duty on diamonds from September 1, 2026, to March 1, 2027, according to a government resolution published on the official legal acts portal.

"In paragraph 2 of Russian Government Resolution No. 733 dated June 12, 2026, 'On Amending Russian Government Resolution No. 2068 dated November 27, 2021' (Collection of Legislation of the Russian Federation, 2026, No. 25, Art. 3361), the words 'from September 1, 2026' shall be replaced with the words 'from March 1, 2027,'" the document reads.

As previously reported, the Russian government will introduce an 8% duty on diamonds exported outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The duty applies to rough diamonds weighing between 0.45 and 10.8 carats, as well as special-size diamonds.
