MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. The share of non-cash payments in Russia is expected to exceed the 90% threshold by the end of this year or at the beginning of 2027, Director of the National Payment System Department at the Bank of Russia Alla Bakina said, adding that no clear increase in demand for cash has yet been recorded.
"We actually expect to reach the 90% threshold by the end of this year or next year - early next year," she said.
The regulator does not see a clear trend towards increased use of cash, Bakina added.
Meanwhile, the share of non-cash payments in retail turnover grew by 0.9 percentage points to 88.9% in January-March 2026, according to the regulator’s review of the development of the national payment system.
