LNG imports to Asia hit lowest level since 2022 in March — Bloomberg

According to the agency, LNG imports to Asia totaled 20.6 mln tons in March

NEW YORK, April 1. /TASS/. Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Asia fell by 8.6% in March compared with the same period last year, marking the lowest level in the past three years, Bloomberg reported.

According to the agency, LNG imports to Asia totaled 20.6 mln tons last month. Such low levels have not been recorded since December 2022. China and India were the hardest hit, although specific figures were not disclosed.

The decline in imports was attributed to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz due to the conflict between the United States and Israel and Iran, as well as the shutdown of the world’s largest oil and gas processing plant in Qatar. According to Bloomberg analysts, LNG prices in Asia could rise by 50% as a result.
