BISHKEK, August 19. /TASS/. Russia has delivered about 1,300 tons of wheat flour to Kyrgyzstan as part of the UN World Food Program (WFP), the Russian embassy in the republic reported.
The bulk of it will be sent to the southern regional center of Osh. According to Russian Ambassador Sergey Vakunov, about 5,000 socially vulnerable Kyrgyz families will receive Russian aid.
"The ceremony of handing over the aid took place in Bishkek with the participation of Russian Ambassador Sergey Vakunov, representatives of the UN WFP, and the cabinet of ministers of the republic," the embassy representative said.
This is not the first batch of Russian aid to Kyrgyzstan through the UN WFP. In April 2024, Russia provided Kyrgyzstan with 398 tons of food products free of charge, and in December - more than 742 tons of wheat flour and over 60 tons of vegetable oil. In total, since 2010, Russia has delivered $112 million worth of flour and other food products to Kyrgyzstan as part of the UN WFP.
