SJ-100 prototype equipped with Russia-produced engines starts certification flights

The SJ-100 is a new version of Sukhoi Superjet 100 with maximum import substitution of components

MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. The second prototype of the Superjet 100 aircraft with domestic PD-8 engines has begun flights for certification, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec corporation) reported on its Telegram channel.

The flights include climb-descent at constant speed and constant thrust and horizontal platforms at constant speed and constant thrust to assess the takeoff and landing characteristics of the aircraft and the thrust characteristics of the engines. In addition, the gas-dynamic stability of the power plants is assessed in various altitude and speed conditions.

The SJ-100 is a short-haul narrow-body aircraft. It is a new version of Sukhoi Superjet 100 with maximum import substitution of components. The project was initiated after the introduction of Western sanctions against Russia.
