Investment projects with Russian capital in Nigeria worth $1.5 bln in year — trade envoy

According to Maxim Petrov, the number of investment projects implemented by Russian companies has seriously increased

NAIROBI, March 25. /TASS/. Investment projects with the participation of Russian capital in Nigeria were totally worth over $1.5 bln in one year, Russia’s Trade Representative in Nigeria Maxim Petrov said in an interview with TASS.

"The number of investment projects implemented by Russian companies has seriously increased since Russia’s trade mission was opened in Nigeria a year ago. Among them are the construction of a dealership center by Avtovaz, the opening of an agriculture cluster in the Lekki Free zone, as well as a number of projects for construction of engineering and energy infrastructure. The projects are totally worth over $1.5 bln," he said.

Russia’s Trade Representative told TASS earlier that Moscow planned to assist Nigeria, which had entered BRICS as a partner country, in developing agriculture, oil and gas sector and its mineral resources. On January 18, Nigeria joined BRICS as its partner country. Nigeria’s Foreign Ministry said earlier that BRICS provided the country with a unique possibility to develop trade, investment and social-economic cooperation with participants of the association.
