229 goldfields discovered in Russia last year — Minister of Natural Resources

The largest one is the Drevniy deposit in the Magadan Region with reserves of almost 104 metric tons

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. The increment of gold reserves in Russia with consideration of appraisal on already discovered areas totaled 804.6 metric tons in 2024, Minister of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov said, quoted by the ministry.

"In 2024, 229 goldfields were discovered; the increment of reserves with consideration of appraisal for already known subsoil areas totaled 804.6 metric tons. The largest one is the Drevniy deposit in the Magadan Region with reserves of almost 104 metric tons," the minister said.

Subsoil users plan to start tapping or boost mining capacity in thirteen major fields, the ministry added. Incremental growth of gold reserves is steadily above production in Russia over the last five years. "They [reserves] increased by 4,560 metric tons; production totaled 2,210 metric tons," the ministry noted.
