Russian Railways boost freight transportation with China by 9% in 2024 — minister

The North-South international transport corridor is also developing steadily, Roman Starovoyt noted

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. Russian Railways increased cargo transportation in the service with China by 9% year on year to 175 mln metric tons, Minister of Transport Roman Starovoyt said.

"The company managed to achieve significant results in 2024 in transportation with China. The total volume was over 175 mln metric tons of freight, which is 9% higher than the level of 2023," the minister noted.

The North-South international transport corridor is also developing steadily, Starovoyt noted. "Implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway project in the territory of Iran will provide for continuous rail service all over the western route of the corridor and will make it possible to further scale up freight traffic in this direction," he added.
