Russia updates record for rice harvest surpassing 1.2 mln tons — Agriculture Ministry

At the same time, almost two thirds of the production falls on the Krasnodar region - in 2024 the rice harvest in the region amounted to 829,000 tons

MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russia’s rice harvest in 2024 amounted to a record 1.2 mln tons according to preliminary data, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture reported.

"In 2024, Russian farmers updated the record for rice harvest. According to preliminary data, the harvest amounted to over 1.2 mln tons, which is 17% higher than last year's figure," the report said.

It was noted that the area of rice crops in Russia reaches around 207,000 hectares. At the same time, almost two thirds of the production falls on the Krasnodar region - in 2024 the rice harvest in the region amounted to 829,000 tons. The crop is also successfully grown in the Republic of Dagestan, the Rostov region, the Chechen Republic, and the Primorsky Territory, the ministry reported.

The Ministry of Agriculture also reported that by 2030 it is planned to reach rice harvests of up to 2 mln tons, which will not only fully meet domestic needs, but also create good export potential.
