ST. PETERSBURG, December 13. /TASS/. The flow of tourists to St. Petersburg in 2024 will be a record and reach 11.6 mln people, the press service of the city governor's administration reported.
"According to the St. Petersburg Turbarometer, 11.6 mln tourists will visit the northern capital in 2024 - 1.1 mln more than in 2019 (10.5 mln)," the statement said.
At the same time, the number of return trips reached 48% of the total tourist flow, and the level of satisfaction with the visit was 86%, which is one of the highest rates in the country, according to the statement.
"Record figures are a well-deserved result of the work of St. Petersburg's hospitality industry. In particularly difficult times during the pandemic, we developed unprecedented comprehensive measures to support the industry, and this is bearing fruit. The demand for trips to St. Petersburg is growing both among tourists from Russia's regions and among foreign guests, and many of them are ready to return to us again and again," Governor Alexander Beglov was quoted as saying.
According to the results of 2024, the greatest interest in trips to St. Petersburg was shown by guests from Russia’s Moscow, Novgorod, and Murmansk regions. The Moscow region, the Republic of Tatarstan, Pskov, Vologda, Vladimir, Voronezh, and Samara regions were also among the top ten.
