Russian presidential aide advocates for creating hydrogen-powered ship fleet

"The level of scientific and technological development in the shipbuilding industry must steadily advance to enable the creation of a new generation of competitive marine technology in Russia," Nikolay Patrushev said

ST. PETERSBURG, December 3. /TASS/. To ensure that Russia’s maritime transportation is environmentally friendly, ships powered by hydrogen should be developed, presidential aide and Chairman of the Russian Marine Board Nikolay Patrushev said.

"The level of scientific and technological development in the shipbuilding industry must steadily advance to enable the creation of a new generation of competitive marine technology in Russia. This includes prioritizing domestically produced ship components,," Patrushev said at a meeting in the Krylov State Research Center.

"We must increase the eco-friendliness of our riverine and marine transport. In this regard, the design of innovative ships with hydrogen fuel cell energy systems is a particularly relevant initiative," he added.
