NEW YORK, April 2. /TASS/. The number of billionaires in the world increased by 141 to a record 2,781 people during 2023 with their net worth totaling an unprecedented $14.2 trillion, according to the 38th edition of Forbes' rankings of the world’s richest people.
French billionaire Bernard Arnault, who owns the LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) group of companies, tops the ranking for the second year in a row with a net worth of around $233 billion.
Head of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk ranks second. His net worth is estimated at $195 billion. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos closes out the top three with a net worth of $194 billion.
According to Forbes, CEO of Meta (recognized as extremist in Russia) Mark Zuckerberg made the most money of anyone on the list last year. He managed to increase his fortune by $116.2 billion to $177 billion, thanks to the growth of the corporation's shares. He ranks fourth on the Forbes list. Larry Ellison, one of the founders of the Oracle Corporation, comes in fifth. His net worth is estimated at $141 billion.
