Gas production in Russia rises by 11.3% to 110 bcm in January - February

Associated petroleum gas production in January-February increased by 3.7% to 17.9 bln cubic meters

MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. Russia in January - February 2024 increased natural gas production by 11.3% year-on-year to 110 bln cubic meters (bcm), according to the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

In particular, gas production in February amounted to 54.3 bcm, which is 2.5% lower than in January and 16.3% more than in February last year.

Production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in January - February 2024 amounted to 5.9 mln tons, which is 8.7% more than in the same period in 2023. In February, LNG production reached 2.8 mln tons, which is 4.6% more than in February 2023 and 6.3% lower than in January 2024.

Associated petroleum gas production in January-February increased by 3.7% to 17.9 bln cubic meters.

Thus, total gas production in Russia (natural and associated petroleum) over the two months of 2024 increased by 10.1% - to 127.9 bln cubic meters.

Earlier, Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov gave a preliminary forecast according to which gas production in Russia in 2024 could amount to about 667 bln cubic meters. Gas production in Russia in 2023 decreased by 5.5% compared to the previous year to 636.9 bln cubic meters.

According to the basic forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development, gas production in Russia in 2024 will increase to 666.7 bln cubic meters, in 2025 - to 695.4 bln cubic meters, in 2026 - to 707.5 bln cubic meters.
