MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Sales of new cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses in Russia soared by 64% in January-February 2024 year-on-year to 221,300 units, the Industry and Trade Ministry said.
"As of the end of January-February 2024, 221,261 new automobiles (up to three years) were sold on the territory of the Russian Federation, up by 64 year-on-year (134,859 units). The market of new domestically produced automobiles was over 95,000, which is 23% higher than indicators in January - February 2023," the ministry said.
Sales of new passenger cars rose by 73% annually to 183,322 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 63% to 17,300 units. The market in the segments of trucks and buses climbed by 16% to 17,400 units and by 5% to 3,200 units, respectively.
"The market of new electric vehicles totaled 3,699 units (+269% against the like period in 2023 - 1,003 units). The share of the ones produced in the Russian Federation stood at 22%. The share of such electric vehicles totaled 22% in the market in 2023," the ministry added.
