Ruble’s exchange rate depends on mounting domestic demand among other things — Putin

According to the president, the decree on obligatory sale of foreign currency revenues by Russian exporters played its role as well

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. The ruble’s exchange rate is floating, depending on mounting domestic demand among other things, President Vladimir Putin said during his combined Direct Line Q&A session and year-end press conference.

"The exchange rate is floating, depending on economic terms, on prices for export goods, and on demand inside the country, which is rising," he said.

The decree on obligatory sale of foreign currency revenues by Russian exporters, which introduced "elements of certain control" from the side of the Central Bank and the cabinet, played its role as well, Putin added.
