Unemployment in Russia drops to 2.9%, first time in country’s history — Putin

MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Unemployment in Russia dropped to 2.9%, this happened for the first time in the country's history, President Vladimir Putin announced this during his annual televised Direct Line question-and-answer session with Russian citizens.

"The unemployment rate, which I mentioned, just recently we were proud that we had an all-time low of 3%. Yesterday, when my colleagues and I were preparing for today’s conversation, it was already 2.9%. This has never happened in the history of Russia. This a very good integrated indicator of the state of the economy," he said.

According to the Federal Statistics Service, the unemployment rate in Russia in October 2023 dropped to 2.9% from 3% in September, reaching a new all-time low.
