Tajikistan ready to cooperate with Russia in energy sphere — president

According to Emomali Rakhmon, the country is now generating 98% of electric power at hydropower plants, that is, from renewable energy sources

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Tajikistan is ready to interact with Russia in the energy sphere, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon told reporters after talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"We are going to double capacities of generating eco-friendly energy as the key basis to promote the green economy. Tajikistan also has capabilities to accommodate on its territory energy-intensive production facilities with the use of green energy against the minimal impact on environment. We express readiness to develop meaningful and mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia in these areas," Rakhmon said.

The country is now generating 98% of electric power at hydropower plants, that is, from renewable energy sources, and ranks sixth globally, the head of state added.
