Apple may be fined for collecting Russians' personal data

The sanction under Part 1 of Article 13.11 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses carries a fine of up to 100,000 rubles ($1,000)

MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. A justice of the peace court in Moscow is reviewing an accusation against Apple that the company breached personal data laws and the US-based company could be fined, the court told TASS.

"The protocol was registered in respect to Apple Inc., prepared for the administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 13.11 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses (personal data processing in cases not stipulated by laws of the Russian Federation in the field of personal data or processing of personal data incompatible with goals of personal data gathering," a spokesperson said.

The sanction under this article carries a fine of up to 100,000 rubles ($1,000).
