Sanya resort will host the Asian Seed Congress in 2024

The event will feature meetings of 13 industry committees, private meetings, press conferences, and trade talks

SANYA, July 18. /TASS/. The southern Chinese resort of Sanya (Hainan Province) will host the Asian Seed Congress in 2024. This was reported by the Hainan Daily newspaper.

According to the newspaper, it will be held from December 2 to 6, 2024. For the first time in 19 years, the congress will be held on the territory of China.

In addition to the opening and closing ceremonies, there will be meetings of 13 industry committees, private meetings, press conferences, and trade talks. About 1,500 seed industry experts from the Asia-Pacific region are expected to attend the congress.

The congress is organized by the Asia and Pacific Seed Association, as well as the Sanya Municipal Government and the Hainan Provincial Government.

Hainan Province is one of the key seed industry regions in China. In 2019, Yazhou Agricultural Science and Technology Cluster was established in Sanya. It has a total area of about 70 square kilometers. The agro-park includes the Nanfan Scientific and Research Breeding Base. It's scientists have been able to breed more than 20,000 new crop varieties there, which is about 70% of China's national figure.
