MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Freight turnover of Russian seaports increased by 10% in January-March 2023 year-on-year to 220.2 mln tons, the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport reported on Monday.
Dry cargo throughput rose by 17% to 105.4 mln tons in the reporting period, while bulk goods throughput added 4.2% to 114.8 mln tons.
"For the first time since the beginning of last year none of the country’s five sea basins reported a decrease in total freight turnover," the report said.
Freight turnover in seaports of the Arctic Basin grew by 2.8% in Q1 2023 year-on-year to 24.6 mln tons, including 7.3 mln tons of dry cargo (+31.6% year-on-year) and 17.3 mln tons of bulk cargo (-5.9%).
Freight turnover in seaports of the Baltic Basin gained 6.8% in the reporting period year-on-year to 64.8 mln tons, including 26.3 mln tons of dry cargo (+8.4% year-on-year) and 38.5 mln tons of bulk cargo (+5.8%).
Freight turnover in seaports of the Azov-Black Sea Basin climbed by 18.6% in Q1 year-on-year to 72.2 mln tons, including 33.9 mln tons of dry cargo (+32.1% year-on-year) and 38.3 mln tons of bulk cargo (+8.7%).
Freight turnover in seaports of the Caspian Basin increased by 28.5% in the period year-on-year to 1.6 mln tons. "The increase was almost fully ensured by throughput of dry goods, which totaled 0.9 mln tons (+56.4%), while bulk cargo throughput went up by 4.2% to 0.7 mln tons," the agency said.
Freight turnover in seaports of the Far Eastern Basin rose by 6.6% in January-March 2023 year-on-year to 57 mln tons, including 37 mln tons of dry cargo (+8.8% year-on-year) and 20 mln tons of bulk cargo (+2.7%).
