Belarusian NPP successfully performs turbine trial run

MINSK, April 10. /TASS/. A trial run of a turbine was successfully completed at the second power generating unit of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom said on Monday.

"The trial start of the turbine was performed within the framework of unit preparation for power generation start. No comments are in respect of the turbine operation: all parameters, including the vibration condition, are normal," Belarusian NPP project director Vitaly Polyanin said, cited by the Rosatom’s Telegram channel.

Specialists measured thermal and mechanical characteristics after steam feed to the turbine generator and gradual increase of its rotation rate to the design value of 3,000 revolutions per minute. Then they stopped the turbine in accordance with the starting operation algorithms. "Turbine idle run tests to confirm equipment operability with design parameters" will be performed later.

The Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant consists of two power generating units with 1,200 MW capacity each.
