Putin, Lukashenko note positive aspects of sanctions

"Prices are going down," the Russian leader said

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Presidents of Russia and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko discussed the positive effect of Western sanctions on the economies of the two countries.

"The working class is turning us toward import substitution," Lukashenko said, noting that he had kept an eye on the recent trip of his Russian counterpart to Tula.

Contrary to the West's expectations, sanctions had a positive effect on the economies of Russia and Belarus, the Belarusian leader said. "Everybody scared us with famine, cold, and so what? Now they don’t even know what to do with all the bread in Russia. Has this ever happened before? Such a great harvest," Lukashenko said.

"Prices are going down," Putin said in his turn.
