MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. The tourist flow from Russia to Antalya soared by 56% in Q1 2023 compared with the same period of the pre-pandemic 2019 to 213,000 people, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said in a statement citing data provided by the Turkish province on Wednesday.
"In January-March 2023, 213,100 Russian tourists visited resorts of the Turkish Antalya province, hitting an all-time high. Some 71,800 Russians arrived here in January, 60,300 - in February, and 81,000 - in March. In Q1 2023, the tourist flow from Russia to Antalya climbed by 56% compared with the pre-pandemic period as 137,000 Russians spent vacation in Antalya in January-March 2019," the statement said.
Compared with the same period in 2022 when there were difficulties with air service, the tourist flow from Russia to Antalya skyrocketed 2.5-fold. Russia gained the lead in terms of tourist flow to the Turkish province in Q1 2023, followed by Germany and the UK.
