Lukashenko calls for consolidating Belarus’, Russia’s, China’s industrial potentials

The President of Belarus also said that the Chinese-Belarusian Great Stone Park has a "really great future"

MINSK, February 27. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has called for consolidating Belarus’, Russia’s, and China’s industrial potentials, as well as using the Veliky Kamen industrial park near Minsk to boost cooperation.

"We have recently agreed with Russia that Belarus and Russia will pursue a common industrial policy. Why not China joins us? Let us begin with Belarus and later the three of us - Russia, Belarus, and China - will unite. A wide field of activity," he said in an interview with the Belarus-1 television channel on Monday.

He said he is convinced that the Chinese-Belarusian Veliky Kamen (Great Stone) park "has a really great future." "We value this huge economic, industrial project," he said, adding that Minsk and Beijing are moving in the right direction by developing the Veliky Kamen potential. "This industrial park has colossal possibilities. Including in terms of volumes," he said.

He also said that it would be expedient to link China’s One Belt One Road initiative to the policy of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). "We can earn a lot from it not only in terms of logistics and trade, but also from high technologies, which will be moving in two directions. It is not far off. That is why it is very interesting for us. We have recently discussed ways of expanding cooperation with the Chinese at meetings of the heads of state both within the CIS and the EAEU. First of all, on the basis of the One Belt One Road concept. It is a good proposal," Lukashenko said ahead of his state visit to China on February 28-March 2.
