Gazprom sets sights on connecting gas infrastructure of Russia’s west and east

In October 2022, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller revealed that the energy giant was setting out to build an interconnector pipeline to link up the western and eastern gas supply systems of the Russian Federation

MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. Gazprom is embarking on an ambitious task of connecting the gas infrastructure of the European and eastern parts of Russia, the energy giant said in a statement on the holding's 30th anniversary.

"For many years, the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok interregional gas transmission system and the Sobolevo-Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky gas pipeline built by Gazprom have been successfully operating in the Far East. Now, Gazprom has an ambitious task - connecting the country's gas infrastructure in its European and Eastern parts," the statement said.
