ISLAMABAD, January 20. /TASS/. Russia and Pakistan signed three intergovernmental agreements, following the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, and scientific and technological cooperation in Islamabad, according to a joint statement issued on Friday by the Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov and Pakistan's Minister of Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
"During the meeting, the following documents were also signed. The first is an agreement on cooperation and mutual aid in customs problems between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Second, the protocol on the exchange of documents and information on the customs value of goods transported between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan between the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation and the Customs Service of the Federal Revenue Council of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The third is the working agreement on airworthiness between the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan."
A representative of the Russian Energy Ministry told earlier TASS that Russia and Pakistan are preparing two agreements in the area of customs cooperation for signing within the framework of the intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, "Regarding customs cooperation we expect two documents to be signed," the ministry said. The two countries have also made some headway in the talks in the transport sector, the representative said, adding that the talks focused on energy issues as well.
Earlier on Friday Russia and Pakistan have reached conceptual agreements on the supply of oil and oil products to Pakistan "Conceptual agreements have been established on the supply of oil and oil products to Pakistan. A great foundation has also been created in energy and power engineering," Deputy Energy Minister Sergey Mochalnikov said.
According to Mochalnikov, the parties also discussed the Pakistan Stream project's implementation. "Today, the concept of gas supplies to Pakistan was presented. We must evaluate the position of the Pakistan Stream in this concept as soon as possible," the deputy minister added.
At the same time, Russia and Pakistan plan to agree on the issue of oil and gas supplies from Russia by the end of March 2023, Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Nikolay Shulginov said. "It was agreed by the sides that after a principal agreement on technical details was achieved the supplies of Russian oil and gas to Pakistan would be based on mutual economic interests of both countries. The approval process is to be completed no later than the end of March 2023," he said.
In turn, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik told reporters that Russia and Pakistan are going to finalize all the commercial and technical details for oil deliveries and the first supply of Russian oil can happen in March 2023.
