ISLAMABAD, January 20. /TASS/. Russia and Pakistan plan to agree on the issue of oil and gas supplies from Russia by the end of March 2023, Energy Minister of the Russian Federation Nikolay Shulginov said following a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
"It was agreed by the sides that after a principal agreement on technical details was achieved the supplies of Russian oil and gas to Pakistan would be based on mutual economic interests of both countries. The approval process is to be completed no later than the end of March 2023," he said.
It was also agreed by the two countries that cooperation in the energy sector would be developed, and energy trade and investment in energy infrastructure based on strategic and favorable commercial conditions would be extended, according to the minister.
Moreover, Russia and Pakistan agreed on developing the ‘Comprehensive plan for energy cooperation’. The plan that is to be endorsed in 2023, is expected to become a basis for future work.
The parties also reached an agreement that the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline project should be considered from the viewpoint of comprehensive infrastructure, which is efficient for sustainable development of gas infrastructure that ensure available gas supplies.
