Berlin has ruined energy cooperation with Moscow with its own hands, diplomat says

As Sergey Nechayev said, the search for alternatives to Russian commodities has not been successful so far

BERLIN, October 18. /TASS/. The German authorities have ruined energy cooperation with Russia, which used to be one of fundamental pillars of Berlin’s prosperity, success and competitiveness, with their own hands, Russian Ambassador to the country Sergey Nechayev said in an interview with TASS.

"As a starting point, it is necessary here to call it what it is, saying frankly who ruined this cooperation. Unfortunately, Germany’s leadership has become in thrall to the collective position of the West being formed by its most anti-Russian representatives. Within this framework Berlin has ruined one of the country’s fundamental pillars of prosperity, success and competitiveness, meaning long-term supplies of Russian energy resources at reasonable prices, with its own hands," he said when commenting on a statement by Stephan Weil, Minister-President of the northwestern German state of Lower Saxony, who said energy cooperation between Germany and Russia had been irreversibly ruined.

Meanwhile, "the search for alternatives to Russian commodities has not been successful so far," Nechayev noted, adding that "Moscow had never refused to cooperate with Germany in the energy sector."
