Samsung halts supplies to Russia due to logistics issues, says agency

The company's enterprises in Russia have not yet reported any production problems

SEOUL, March 5. /TASS/. The suspension of supplies to Russia by the South Korean Samsung is connected with logistics issues, the Yonhap news agency reported citing the company on Saturday.

Samsung enterprises in Russia have not yet reported any production problems, though they may appear in case of protracted logistics issues, the agency added.

Bloomberg said earlier on Saturday citing a source that Samsung had suspended exports of all its products ranging from chips to smartphones and consumer electronics to Russia due to current geopolitical developments. Moreover, Korean Air said on Friday it had stopped delivering cargoes to Moscow for two weeks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine, stressing that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. Western countries responded to the actions of the Russian authorities by slapping sanctions against physical and legal entities. The Republic of Korea joined sanctions against Russian organizations.
