DONETSK, August 13. /TASS/. Fighters of the 9th Reconnaissance Battalion of Russia’s Battlegroup Center operated deep behind Ukrainian lines for a month and accomplished all assigned tasks, a reconnaissance rifleman from the battalion with the call sign Bukra told TASS.
"We operated in two trios, the group was split into two teams of three. The first was a reconnaissance team, while the second was a holding party and support team. If something happened, we came together to operate as a six-man team. It turned out that we roamed around there for a whole month, and the Ukrainians didn’t find us. "Drones and fixed-wing UAVs were flying, but I heard them in time and took cover. Even just freezing in place was enough to keep a 'bird' from spotting you," the soldier said.
According to him, Russian units moved into areas where Ukrainian soldiers were without armor and were moving freely in the open. "We got so close that we could see them walking around calmly in front of their dug-out shelters wearing just fleece jackets," the soldier added.
He emphasized that to carry out their mission, the Russian soldiers maintained concealment discipline. They communicated with each other exclusively through gestures and facial expressions.
