Yars drive a hundred kilometers, build up field positions, organize camouflage and security

MOSCOW, March 26. /TASS/. Strategic mobile Yars missile launchers of the Bologoye formation went on new combat patrol routes, the Defense Ministry said.

"Autonomous Yars launchers went on combat patrol routes in the Bologoye missile formation. They intensively maneuver in patrol routes at night," it said.

Yars drive a hundred kilometers, build up field positions, organize camouflage and security. They counter hostile subversion groups and cross conditionally contaminated areas.

The training prepares Yars crews for long combat patrols in field conditions, it added.

Yars launchers operate in new combat patrol routes. "During the scheduled command-staff exercise of the Bologoye strategic missile formation, the regiments armed with Yars ground mobile launchers operate in new combat patrol routes," the ministry said.

The launchers train operating in a rapidly changing situation and fulfilling missions in various variants. It guarantees the delivery of orders to all command posts and launchers in conditions of complicated jamming situation, it added.

The exercise engaged over 3,000 men and close to 300 hardware units.

The mobile Yars RS-24 (SS-27 mod.2 Sickle-B by NATO classification) carries RS-24 intercontinental ballistic missile with multiple warheads designed by the Moscow Institute of Heat Technology (MIT). RS-24 was for the first time launched in 2007. Yars has been supplied to the strategic forces since 2009. RS-24 ICBM was created with technological solutions implemented in Topol-M RS-12M2 missile. RS-24 has better capabilities to break through missile defense and thus strengthened the Russian strategic deterrence.
