MAGAS, March 7. /TASS/. The United States and its allies are seeking to instigate separatism in the North Caucasus using provocative acts and disinformation, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev said.
"The United States and its allies continue interfering into our domestic affairs in a bid to weaken us from inside, to destabilize the situation. They are stepping up efforts to instigate protest and separatist processes in the North Caucasus, engaging West-controlled public organizations, using provocations, disinformation, and technologies of negative information and psychological pressure," he said at a meeting on issues of the security in the North Caucasus.
"Activists of the destructive opposition, supported by foreign non-profit organizations, international organization, foreign media and public funds, are fomenting protests in the North Caucasian regions seeking to undermine people’s confidence in government agencies," he stressed.
