US developing biological weapons components near Russian border — top brass

Igor Kirillov stressed that the United States had refuted none of the evidence cited by the Russian defense ministry

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. An analysis of documents retrieved from US biological facilities in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics and in the Kherson Region indicates that the United States is developing biological weapons components in close proximity to Russia’s borders, Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov said on Tuesday.

"After analyzing documents and interviewing witnesses, we have no doubt that under the guise of ensuring global biosecurity the United States conducted dual-use research, including the development of biological weapons components in the vicinity of Russia’s borders," he said at a plenary session of the Russian State Duma, or lower house of Russian parliament.

According to Kirillov, in the course of the special military operation, Russia’s defense ministry has analyzed more than 2,000 separate documents confirming that military-biological projects had been implemented in Ukraine. Moreover, specific officials involved in organizing US military-biological research in Ukraine have been identified.

He stressed that the United States had refuted none of the evidence cited by the Russian defense ministry. "No one, including Western nations, has ever doubted the authenticity of the released documents," he added.
