Russian Security Council lays out goals for ensuring security in new regions

According to Nikolay Patrushev, law enforcement agencies have been ordered to "take effective measures to rigorously enforce the principle of the inevitability of punishment for violating laws"

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. The Russian Security Council has set goals to ensure security in the country’s new territories, including urgent establishment of law enforcement agencies there, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said on Wednesday.

"The Security Council has set goals to create conditions for the local population to have a safe life, for upholding the rights and freedoms of citizens that are guaranteed by the Constitution of our country, further integration of the regions in the Russian legal system," he said following a council meeting.

For example, nonstop and coordinated work of government agencies and local government officials needs to be organized, which would be based, among other things, on the current territorial defense headquarters.

"The most important goals include a fast-track establishment of a comprehensive law enforcement system, staffing it with professionals and providing it with proper equipment," Patrushev said.

According to the official, law enforcement agencies have been ordered to "take effective measures to rigorously enforce the principle of the inevitability of punishment for violating laws."

"Law enforcement agencies are already conducting their lawful activities across the entire liberated territory," he said.
