Almost all major damage to ZNPP repaired — official

The reactors that are currently in cold shutdown can be launched within two weeks, Rosenergoatom CEO advisor Renat Karchaa said

MELITOPOL, January 21. /TASS/. Almost all serious damage, inflicted on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant by Ukrainian shelling, has been repaired, Rosenergoatom CEO advisor Renat Karchaa told TASS.

"Quite a lot of damage has accumulated, some major, some minor. All major ‘stories,’ almost all of them, have been closed, but small things remain, of course, and it would take quite a long time to fix this damage," he said.

Karchaa underscored that fully-fledged repairs were impossible for a while due to intense artillery shelling of the station.

"Should the situation remain calm, and if we work intensively, then it will take two to three months, half a year at most, to restore the station completely," he said.

According to Karchaa, the reactors that are currently in cold shutdown can be launched within two weeks.

"There is only one reason why this does not happen - the inadequacy of the Kiev regime, because we do not want to launch them and get another artillery hysteria, […] we are responsible for nuclear security," he explained.
