MOSCOW, May 9. /TASS/. Russian air defense systems shot down Ukrainian MiG-29 aircraft, and also intercepted Tochka-U missile and two Smerch projectiles, official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry Major General Igor Konashenkov announced on Monday.

"Over the day, Russian air defense systems shot down MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Forces over the city of Severodonetsk," Konashenkov said.

"Ukrainian Tochka-U missile was intercepted near the village of Ivanovka in the Kharkov region, and two rockets of the Smerch multiple rocket launcher system were intercepted in the areas of Bolshaya Kamyshevakha and Izyum," he added.

At the same time, six helicopters were destroyed by sea-based Oniks missiles overnight in the Odessa region, Konashenkov said. "According to updated data, six Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters were destroyed by high-precision Onyx missiles from the Bastion coastal missile system near the settlement of Artsiz in the Odessa region," he said.

Russia’s Aerospace Forces hit eight ammunition depots of Ukrainian troops with high-precision missiles and two radars for detecting air targets, he added. "High-precision air-launched missiles of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit 11 areas of concentration of forces and military equipment, four company strongholds, eight ammunition warehouses of Ukrainian troops in the areas of Konstantinovka, Antonovka, Elizavetovka, Dolina, and Lisichansk," Konashenkov said.
