Tymoshenko: Ukraine's PM should be brought to criminal liability over budget situation

In her words, when inflation is twice as big as planned, it means an inflation-bloated budget

KIEV, December 17. /TASS/. Ukraine’s former Prime Minister and now a lawmaker with the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party, Yulia Tymoshenko has urged to bring current Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk to criminal liability over the situation with the country’s budget, which owed its 2015 revenues to inflation rather than economic growth.

"Frankly speaking, the prime minister frightens me. This man seems to be inadequate. I have figures at hand. Just imagine, he planned inflation in 2015 at 26.7% But in fact it is 45.8%," she said in an interview with the 112 Ukraina television channel.

In her words, when inflation is twice as big as planned, it means an inflation-bloated budget. "And these revenues are not the country’s revenues. They are losses. Because they are earned not through economic growth but through inflation, which impoverished each and every individual and sent prices at such a hike that people can buy nothing," she said.

Yatsenyuk, she said, had planned that the country’s GDP would go down in 2015 by 5.5% In fact, it has dropped by nine percent. "With decreasing GDP, the budget will not be fulfilled in case there is no inflation. It is clear even to a schoolchild. And if inflation is twice as big, production slums is twice as big as planned, so, these budget revenues are inflations incomes, minted by the National Bank. These are bloated finances secured by neither currency and gold reserves nor by economic growth, by nothing," Tymoshenko said.

She said Yatsenyuk was to be brought to responsibility for the situation with the budget. "The prime minister should be brought to responsibility for that. To criminal, not administrative responsibility. Because the country is being destroyed as it has never been," she underscored.
