Ethiopia’s prime minister expected at BRICS summit in Kazan — ambassador

ADDIS ABABA, February 17. /TASS/. Russia expects Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to attend the BRICS summit in October, Russia’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa Yevgeny Terekhin has told TASS.

"The very status of the BRICS summit implies the participation of the member countries’ top officials, including the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, which is now a full-fledged member of the association. We expect that such a visit will take place," he said.

Ethiopia became a member of BRICS on January 1. It was invited to join the group at the BRICS summit in Johannesburg last August.
