Hezbollah leader says it was US’ mistake to unleash aggression against Yemen

The Americans’ actions demonstrate that they don’t know the people of this Arab state and its will for resistance, Hassan Nasrullah says

BEIRUT, January 14. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden made a mistake when he ordered to attack Yemen hoping that this move will stop Houthi operations in the Red Sea, Sheikh Hassan Nasrullah, leader of the Lebanese Shiite party Hezbollah, said.

"President Biden and his team will soon understand that they made a mistake having unleashed aggression against Yemen," he said in a televised address to the participants in a rally in Beirut, which was aired by the Al Manar television channel.

"The Americans’ actions demonstrate that they don’t know the people of this Arab state and its will for resistance," he stressed.

According to the Hezbollah leader, missile strikes on Ansar Allah (the Houthi) military targets will change nothing. "The Yemeni will not step back and will continue attacks on ships bound for Israel until Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip is ended," he warned, adding that the "Yemeni front has become a decisive factor in the battle." "Each Arab, Muslim, free and noble man must declare his support for Yemen, its people, army, and the Ansar Allah movement now," he said.

On the night of January 12, the United States and the United Kingdom delivered air strikes on rebel-held positions in several Yemeni cities, using aircraft, warships and submarines. US President Joe Biden said the military action was ordered in response to "unprecedented Houthi attacks" on shipping in the Red Sea and that the strikes were delivered in self-defense.

Following the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis warned that they would launch strikes on Israeli territory while barring ships associated with the Jewish state from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until Tel Aviv ceased its military operation against Palestinian radical group Hamas in the embattled enclave. According to the US Defense Department’s Central Command’s (CENTCOM) estimates, the Yemeni rebel group has attacked more than 20 vessels and civilian ships in the Red Sea since mid-November.
