MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Financial aid to Ukraine from Western partners since February 24 has amounted to $73.6 bln, 2022, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (unicameral parliament) member Yaroslav Zheleznyak said.
"Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has attracted $73.6 billion to the state budget from international partners. Of these, $42.5 billion received this year," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Earlier, Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko said that the country's authorities had reduced their requests for next year's foreign aid from the West from $41 bln to about $37 bln. Also, according to the official, it is necessary to limit public consumption "several times" to put Ukraine on a war footing.
Ukraine's state budget for 2024 includes a deficit of $43.5 bln. According to the document, the country's external borrowings should amount to $41 bln. However, there are concerns that the budget contains more revenues than Western partners are ready to provide. In recent days, these concerns have been further heightened by the fact that during last week's EU summit, EU leaders failed to resolve the issue of allocating €50 bln to Ukraine under the four-year program to support the country, and the US Congress still has not approved the $61 bln aid package for Kiev.
