Zelensky’s inability to keep quiet cost him further support from US — French politician

According to Florian Philippot, the Ukrainian leader "reinforced the resolve of those [US senators] who want to stop any aid to Ukraine"

PARIS, December 13. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has solidified resolve among US senators to end the flow of financial aid to the Kiev regime by his inability to remain silent at the right moment, Florian Philippot, leader of French political party Les Patriotes and former member of the European Parliament (MEP), said.

According to him, during a visit to the US Congress, Zelensky "committed a major blunder." "During his speech, he said that any American lawmaker who refuses to vote for the $61-bln assistance plan for Ukraine is ‘Putin’s puppet,’" Philippot wrote on the X social media platform (formerly Twitter). According to the politician, with these remarks, the Ukrainian leader "reinforced the resolve of those [US senators] who want to stop any aid to Ukraine." "Zelensky missed out on yet another golden opportunity to bite his tongue!" Philippot concluded.

On December 13, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said that Zelensky’s visit to Washington completely lacked substance and he failed to convince skeptical US lawmakers that Ukraine is more important than US border security. As reported earlier, on Tuesday the Ukrainian president visited the US Congress for meetings with a bipartisan group of senators and US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson (Republican, Louisiana) and also held talks with US President Joe Biden.
