Foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia to meet in Washington — Department of State

Azerbaijani Central Bank Governor and Energy Minister will also visit Washington

WASHINGTON, December 8. /TASS/. A new round of meetings between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will take place in the US capital of Washington soon, the US Department of State said in a statement.

"Secretary Blinken looks forward to hosting Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Washington soon for the next round of peace negotiations," the statement says.

Besides, Azerbaijani Central Bank Governor and Energy Minister will also visit Washington.

On Thursday, US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien "had a positive and constructive meeting" with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Baku, the Department of State said.

Meanwhile, US Department of State Spokesperson Matthew Miller welcomed "the announcement by Armenia and Azerbaijan of the release of two Azerbaijani and thirty-two Armenian detainees."

"This commitment represents an important confidence building measure as the sides work to finalize a peace agreement and normalize relations," the statement says.

He commended Baku and Yerevan’s "joint efforts to lay the groundwork for a more peaceful and prosperous future for the people of the South Caucasus.".
