Riyadh plans to work with Moscow to resolve Gaza crisis, top Saudi diplomat says

"We will seek out cooperation with Russia and other partners to strengthen the international community’s response to the current crisis and resolve the situation in order to prevent civilian bloodshed and human rights violations in the Gaza Strip," Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud pointed out

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Saudi Arabia seeks to cooperate with Russia and other partners to resolve the crisis surrounding the Gaza Strip, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said.

"We will seek out cooperation with Russia and other partners to strengthen the international community’s response to the current crisis and resolve the situation in order to prevent civilian bloodshed and human rights violations in the Gaza Strip," he pointed out at a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and top diplomats from a number of Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states.

Lavrov said earlier that the countries of the region should have some kind of mechanism for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian crisis.

Tensions in the Middle East flared up again on October 7 after militants from the Palestinian group Hamas launched an incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza and launched ground operations in the enclave, also carrying out air strikes on targets in the Strip, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
