WASHINGTON, November 8. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to announce at a meeting on the sidelines of the APEC meeting in San Francisco on November 15 that defense officials in their countries will resume communications with each other, Axios reported, citing sources.
The report said China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi indicated during his visit to Washington last week that China was prepared to reopen the lines of communication between the militaries of the two countries.
According to Axios, reestablishing military communication channels with Beijing is a key priority for the White House. China suspended these communications in 2022 to protest the visit of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
