Jordan's King says prolonging Gaza conflict won't contribute to political solution

According to the statement, King Abdullah II of Jordan reaffirmed that the only way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the two-state solution

BEIRUT, November 7. /TASS/. The prolongation of the conflict between Israel and the radical Palestinian movement Hamas will make it difficult to return to the search for a political solution to this confrontation, King Abdullah II of Jordan told European Council President Charles Michel.

"His Majesty King Abdullah II, accompanied by Crown Prince Al Hussein, met European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and warned of the disastrous effects and long-term consequences of the war in Gaza," the King's Office said in a statement posted on account on X (formerly Twitter). "During their meeting, His Majesty and European Council President Michel reaffirmed that the only way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the two-state solution. His Majesty warned that the continued destruction and killing in the war in Gaza will make it difficult to return to a political solution and work towards the two-state solution, thus fuelling further conflict," the statement pointed out.

The Jordanian king is on a visit to Brussels with his son, Prince Al Hussein, heir to the throne, and a delegation that includes Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Hussein Abdullah Al-Safadi. In addition to Michel, Abdullah II has already met with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, with whom he also discussed the situation in Gaza and called for pressure on Israel to end the armed confrontation. The hostilities, according to the monarch, could destabilize the entire region.
