TEL AVIV, November 7. /TASS/. Since October 7, Israeli forces have arrested 1,350 Palestinians in the West Bank of the Jordan River, including 870 members of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
"So far, since the military operation began [on October 7] as many as 1,350 wanted people have been arrested across Judea and Samaria (the Israeli name for the West Bank - TASS), of whom 870 have links with the Hamas terror organizations," the Israeli military said in a statement.
According to the IDF, last night, "during an operation to destroy the terror infrastructure in the Tulkarm [refugee] Camp, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacked a group of armed individuals who posed a threat to the military." Israel’s Combat Engineering Corps detected a number of ready-for-use landmines and explosive devices on the camp’s premises, the IDF said, adding that the military was fired at and thrown explosives on, as Israeli forces "opened return fire" that "hit targets."
Also, five metal turning lathes were confiscated in the West Bank’s south and arrangements were made to demolish the home of a terrorist in the Palestinian village of Sair who attacked Israeli border policemen in Jerusalem on November 6. In all, 28 wanted people, including 11 activists of the Hamas terror organization, were arrested during raids in the West Bank last night, the IDF concluded.
Tensions in the Middle East flared up again on October 7 when some 3,000 Hamas militants launched a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian movement described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total siege of Gaza and started carrying out strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
