Tens of thousands of Israelis resume protest rallies against judicial reform

The largest rally was traditionally held in Tel Aviv

TEL AVIV, July 30. /TASS/. A new wave of mass rallies engulfed Israel on Saturday night with tens of thousands of residents protesting a controversial judicial reform.

According to a TASS correspondent, the largest rally was traditionally held in Tel Aviv where opposition attitudes are the strongest. As before, the protesters gathered near government buildings in the eastern part of the city.

The controversial reform will limit the powers of Israel's Supreme Court, which to date has had the power to block any government decision deemed legally unreasonable; the reform will now curtail these powers.
