Meeting of OTS top diplomats kicks off in Uzbekistan

The summit takes place in Samarkand

SAMARKAND, November 10. /TASS/. The foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) during their meeting on Thursday will review a package of documents planned to be signed during the first OTS summit in Samarkand on November 11, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov said during his opening remarks.

"It is symbolic that the first summit of OTS member states is held in Samarkand, which plays a great role in the Turkic civilization. The main event of the summit is the signing of the package of documents prepared for it, which will determine the development of the OTS for 2022-2026," the Uzbek top diplomat said.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (the Turkic Council) created in 2009 renamed itself as the Organization of Turkic States at the November 2021 Istanbul Summit. Currently, the organization includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan with Hungary and Turkmenistan participating as observers.
