Venezuela receives new batch of Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine

According to deputy minister of health Marisela Bermudez, owing to the received vaccines, 70% of the country’s population was expected to get at least one doze of the vaccine before the end of the month

BUENOS AIRES, October 15. /TASS/. A new batch of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine arrived in Venezuela on Thursday, the Twitter account of Sputnik V reported.

"Over 700,000 doses of Sputnik V arrived in Venezuela today for the country’s vaccination program," the tweet said.

This is a second batch of the Russian vaccine that the country has received this week. On Monday, deputy minister of health Marisela Bermudez said that owing to the received vaccines, 70% of the country’s population was expected to get at least one doze of the vaccine before the end of the month.

According to the health ministry, 387,000 people have been infected with coronavirus in the country since the pandemic began, and 4,600 coronavirus patients have died.
